Youth in grades 7-10 can join the After School Newcomer Hub for free homework help in math, science, English, French, and other subjects as needed. Life, leadership, employment, and other skills building workshops are also featured. Laptops are available for assignments and research, and electronic gaming and other fun activities can be enjoyed. Big Kids Reading Circle is a registered program for children 4-6 with parents or caregiver. Program focuses on reading/story time. Includes circle time, snack, reading, arts and craft. Children have opportunity to borrow a book at this program.
As a result of dealing with several OFIB schools in the community, we developed and implemented various programs that meet the needs of different learning styles. Within our Homework Club our staff assure that students receive assistance with their homework and challenges in various disciplines. Further we have developed a literacy program to assist children that have difficulties with reading and writing.
The Alexandra Park Community Centre provides a range of services for residents of the Sonny Atkinson Housing Co-op and from the surrounding community. Programs for children include an After 4 program for school-age children, including a once a week homework club. The program for pre-school and kindergarten children includes a literacy program once a week for 4-6 year olds. Tutors are from Frontier College.
We provide homework supports to participants living in Crescent Town and the surrounding areas in grades 2-5 on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30-7 p.m. Reading supports will be provided on Monday and assistance with math will be provided on Thursdays.

The Boys and Girls Club of West Scarborough and Area provides recreational programs for children and youth in our community between the ages of 6 – 24. We are investing in their futures and strive to create positive environments from which these children and youth can grow and reach their potential. The Club works to develop citizenship and leadership skills among all its members. We offer opportunities to learn life skills and aid in the development of social skills, all while having fun and participating in recreational programs. By exposing our children and youth to enrichment activities we help to broaden their horizons and encourage cooperation.
The After-Four is for children in grades 1-6. Each day children receive a healthy snack, homework support and rotate through a variety of different activities, such as basketball, soccer, floor hockey, dance, drama, active games and cooperative games. The Performing Arts Program has various classes in dance, drama and vocals, throughout the week and on weekends.
The homework club is offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. The homework club is attended by those who were displaced by war, persecution or torture from their country of origin and family members of survivors. Children enjoy a snack and computer lab, while getting support from our trained volunteers. The centre also offers educational summer programs.
The Cecil Homework Help Program aims at assisting children ages 6-12 with general homework, math, reading, etc. Youth, adult volunteers, and staff provide support year round. Program runs every Monday, 6-7:30 p.m. Also there is a Sunday Children's Program from 12:30-4:30 p.m. that provides structured activities, crafts, and reading.
The program includes English learning, homework assistance, games, competitions, social skill training and outdoor activities. Weekday from 4:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon and weekend from 10:00 to 12:00 in the morning.
Our program is run through our volunteer services department. Volunteers attend the family home and provide tutoring once per week for 2-3 hours at a time. This program is only available to children whose families are currently involved with the Children's Aid Society of Toronto.
The Nook engages children ages 6-12 in experiential education programs focusing on all the Arts, Literacy, and Recreation. We also are committed to exploring issues of social justice, community development, and critical thinking in children and early youth. We do this through programs such as our Cooking Club, Pedal Pushers Bike Share, Yoga Studio, Community Theatre Production, Music Studio, Parent Room and Workshops, Suspension Help Program, and much more.
ARC programs begin in September and end in June. They are offered Monday to Friday, from school dismissal to 6 p.m. ARC programs a variety of activities such as outdoor play, games, drama, sports, arts and crafts. The program schedule allows children time to eat snacks they have brought to the program. One experienced leader is responsible for a group of 10 children. ARC programs welcome families to join their children for planned special activities. Program staff will advise you when special events are taking place!

The participants of the After School Program start off each day with 1 hour for snack time/homework The Community Centre will provide the snack for the children Monday -Friday. The SMTP (Saturday Morning Tutorial Program) is a weekly program that runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The program focuses on supporting English language and mathematics skills. Although it is primarily driven by homework assistance, it is supplemented by special workshops and educational field trips. It is also complemented by the exposure to various cultural activities.
To provide several students, grades 4-12, with homework help. We provide Kosher Pizza, juice and carrots for dinner. The On Your Mark Tutoring and Mentoring Program is an effort to support and improve the academic performance of students who are of Portuguese and Spanish speaking descentin grades 1 to 12. The program welcomes close to 300 students every school year, with close to 150 volunteer tutors and Site Supervisors at 9 school locations from Monday to Saturday. Tutoring sessions are organized around the needs of the individual student. Apart from academics, the program encourages discussion and relationship building between tutor and student.
The Centre provides a comprehensive after-school program for grade 1 to 12 children and youth everyday from Monday to Friday, 4-5:30 p.m. It includes a mentor program for Chinese immigrants, homework club, snack program and drop-in activities in art, music, sports, food and recreation. Staff and volunteers work together to implement the program.

The Newcomer Homework Club provides homework, literacy and study support for children from newcomer families living in the Regent Park community. An adult ESL and literacy program is also offered at the same location and time for parents and other adults in the community. Learners are registered by the RPCHC. The program takes place at the Duke of York Elementary School. Volunteer tutors are from Frontier College and the Ve'ahavta Jewish Humanitarian and Relief Committee.

The San Romanoway Revitalization Association believes in safe, supervised and supported programs for children and youth after school. Research has shown that many unsupervised children and youth engage in anti-social activities and behaviors between the hours of 3-7 p.m. By providing homework supports, mentoring activities and other pro-social recreational activities for our children and youth after school, all forms of anti-social behaviors including aggression, bullying and violence will decrease. It is our view, that well-organized, supervised and supported after-school programs enhances the positive life choices of our young people.

The Stop Now and Plan (SNAP)® Program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 6-11 who are engaging in aggressive and anti-social behaviour and/or come into contact with the police. The program helps children and parents regulate angry feelings by getting them to stop, think, and plan positive alternatives before they act impulsively.
St John's Academy offers a free individualized tutoring program in English and math to students from low income families in the South Riverdale area.
The after school home work club is a small group home work support program for children 10-12 years of age. The youth tutoring program works with youth 13-18 that are experiencing difficulties at school. The children are matched with a volunteer tutor who assists them with a variety of educational subjects, the focus being primarily reading and math. This program was developed in response to recurring concerns expressed by parents, program staff and local teachers. This program is free of charge, giving access to parents who could not otherwise afford this type of assistance for their children. Tutors are recruited from the local community and receive supervision and training from the Youth worker and After School Program Staff.
The Afterschool Program consists of 50 children and 5 volunteers a day. Children from ages 6 through 12 from the neighbourhood visit us 5 days a week for homework, reading time and engaging activities. Children receive assistance finishing homework, specifically reading and writing. But it's not just work. We make sure every session has at least a portion of time devoted to games and fun projects to keep their young minds fresh and active.
The STEP Program offers a safe and stimulating environment, whereby youth can build upon their social skills, increase self-esteem, develop leisure skills and a vision for their future. The STEP Program and its individual components are offered to the community as a free service in an effort to remove barriers and provide youth with an equal opportunity for success.

They teach them the tools for success: positive thinking, goal setting, study skills, effort and determination. Time: 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We offer escort service from three nearby feeder schools, namely Orde P.S., Ogden P.S., and Lord Lansdowne P.S., after school. A snack will be provided and then children can enroll into programs such as English/math class; swimming (levels from 1 to 10); sports such as basketball, soccer, badminton, dodgeball or floor hockey; cooking club, art class, games club, science team etc.
